Default Wash JK with Sunrider soft top

I know that the Owner's Manual does not recommend to wash JK w/ soft top with car wash machine... the brush scratches the plastic windows.

BUT...

How about those "jet (laser?)" car wash machine? The one that washes car with high pressure water/soap? Not a good idea?

I'd be worried about that high pressure causing leaks. I think your best bet is obviously hand washing.

Took mine through one yesterday, got minor leaks at the rear between the tailgate and the rear window, and one drip right in the center of my dash. I blame this entirely on the odd angles that the high pressure water jets are coming from. I've driven several times in torrential rain with no leaks. I normally hand wash, but i would go through a water jet type car wash again if I needed to. It wasn't enough to be concerned about.

You are brave!

It doesn't sound so bad BUT, I'll just stick with hand wash for a while... maybe a year or so. Once the "new car" look/feel is gone, I'll probably try jet wash.

I have been through the Laser Wash several times. I have a leak always in the same spot which is the rear drive side where the backwindow and quarter panel meet. Doesn't do it on the passenger side for some reason. I've had the top down, window off, back on and it still does it. I still go through the Laser because it is just a little squirt. I pretty much will only do this through the winter to get the salt off the Jeep. Spring, summer & fall.. it's all my doing as usual.
