Default Warning... Dealer denied leak.

This is a heads up to TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHINGBEFOREgoing to the dealership.

So the dealership (Tom Obrian Jeep 96th & Keystone INDY) said I don't have a leak, that this is condensation and that it is NOT oil. You will see a hose where it transitions into a hard line that had a LARGE build up of oily grime until the service manager wiped it off and then began telling me that "that line is dry". The service manager said it was a "carbon buildup" and that it isn't oil. They said that acording to chrysler a leak is where it is dripping. You can see that the power steering fluid is low.

They said "well are you just looking for something to get fixed? I can't make any money if I'm fixing things that aren't broken." They said they can clean it off and I told them no.

I'm mad because I didn't take pics before hand of the large build up on that hard line. I will be calling a different dealership once that buildup shows up again.

Hrmmm your motor looks cleaner than mine. Someone got a little heavy handed at one point with the motor oil...

I do get allot of buildup around the power steering fill cap tho.

If that were the case you would see oil running down the engine. this oil is surrounding the power steering and it follows the belt pattern. the oil fill cap is set much further back on the top of the engine. Deff not from oil filling

Yes, you stupid monkey, people love nothing more than taking time off work to visit their dealer and have things fixed that aren't broken. What a douche canoe.

Technically, a leak is a drip, you just have seepage right now which eventually leads to a leak(drip). You might have to just wait it out. Thats what I learned over the years. Seepage is acceptible in dealership and oem standards. Doesnt make sense

x2 if its not dripping its not leaking. if you want it fixed wait a month(so its not so obvious) then make it leak(very small pin and poke it through right close to the fitting)

oh ya this is a dirty trick and I have nevr done this EVER.

UPDATE:

So I decided to take my Jeep to another dealer service department and BOOM "you have a power steering pump leak." I am getting a new pump today. I told them to document everything and I'm going to first go to the other dealership to that persons boss and then I'm going to call Chrysler.

Honesty will get you far. Accusing an honest person of trying to commit fraud will get you in trouble (at least that individual).

What did they say about all the buildup around the tank?

I'd think twice before I tried to get a dealer in trouble. You might be opening a can of worms. Just a thought.

Agreed. It may feel good in the short term, but in the long-run may lead to lots of added aggravation and trouble. Proper "justice" is great, but sometimes it's best to just leave things be.

I'm glad you got things sorted out. Just go to this dealer from now on and forget about the other; possibly just spreading a little negative word of mouth.

In the end, the other dealer just has people trying to do their jobs. Even if there are some few bad apples over there, the majority of those folks are just trying to make a buck and provide for their families. Sometimes it takes the bigger man to just let things slide and be happy that you got your end sorted.
