Looks great.

Could you replace the entire stock panel and make yours deeper
towards the front? That would make the bottom nearly or completely flat.

Huh. I dunno. Has anyone popped off the top?

it's really easy to pop off. There are a couple of threads that detail it here. I've done it and its a piece of cake. I have the built in compass in my sahara, and the compass module is in the bottom of that center piece near the front. So it wouldn't be possible to go deeper without moving it or something, and I don't know whether or not that would be a good Idea.

Does this impact the Compass or satellite signal at all? I know just placing my hand up there affects the signal for the sat.

If you changed this to accommodate a flip-up LCD monitor that can be used in conjunction w/ the factory 6 disc DVD changer, you would sell quite a few.

Which satellite? GPS I could buy, but the Sirius antenna is up on the rollbar.

A couple ideas I had for this.

1. How about some small grooves inside the front and back edges so you could have a movable/removable divider? so things like cellphone, etc don't keep sliding back and forth. I know most people are using non-slide padding or liners but thought this might be pretty easy to add.

2. How about a cut out on the left hand side? kinda like the right side CB holder but on the left to let a charging cord for a cellphone in there without looping up over the top.

Just some thoughts I had looking at my daystar today...

Yours looks like it is deeper and can hold more stuff and the mic holder is a nice touch.
Maybe look into making some seperate compartments to keep everything organized.
The problem is a lot of cell phones placed in that location cause crazy compass errors ...

On the general thread topic, I have a similar solution that cost $3 at the auto parts store (and has effective non-skid surface to keep things in place):
