Towing Parade Float - Special Question
#12
What I was concerned about regarding wheelies wasn't due to the weight of the DS, but with the rear end already down, and the 4LO range on the rear end that the front can lift very easily if you get on it too hard. Don't forget that the total weight of the trailer acts to hold you back initially which adds to the ease of which you can pull a wheelie.
The only construction forward of the trailer's axles is plywood decking, a railing made out of 2x4, and chicken wire and paper flowers. There's a wooden mountain made out of paper mache and extra wood and cutouts all behond the axles.
As to the tires, according to BFGoodrich, the 315/75 r16 tires max weight range is over 3000 pounds at 50psi. And again that's a "normal service" rating assuming speeds and highway travel - I'll be creeping along at 1mph for one mile. Not a lot of heat or road hazard issue here.
I'm leaning towards doing it but I'll appreciate feedback once I get the photos up tomorrow.
