Default Towing the JK with all 4 down???

Anyone have any experience towing the 4 door yet?

IF it gets here and IF the dealership hasn't sold it out from underneath us, our intent is to tow it with our RV as early as next week. We've got all the parts on order and installation time booked for a 4 wheel down tow.

I've run with lots of trailers and various configurations but this will be our first 4 wheel down configuration.

Any input greatly appreciated!

I plan on towing mine also behind our MH. I was wondering what towbar you decided to go with? I know the Mopar one is available, but I've heard Roadmaster either has one or will have one soon.

Falcon all terrain is what the guy recommended for our travels. Can't tell you much about it but the guy put one on his own MH and had nothing but good things to say. I'll let you know in a couple of weeks!

I plan on doing the same thing. I would like something that folds up on the back of the coach. Please post pics when you get your bar etc... Instalation pics would also be cool if you have them. Any of you guys going to have any larger tires or lift and still tow behind your coach?

I plan on towing my JK when I get it. When i did the test drive we drove to the top of a hill behind the dealership and coasted several different ways to see if it would add miles. It did not add miles with key in accessory position and transfer case in nuetral.

I have a roadmaster tow bar. Road master now makes a bracket for X, sharra, and Rubicon models.

I'm setting up my JK Rubicon to tow with my RV. I considered the Mopar tow bar but ruled it out since I wanted one that mounts to the RV. Also considered Roadmaster but their bracket mounts to the frame but also bolts to the front bumper on the JK. That design looked like it would limit some of the aftermarket bumper choices. I settled on a Blue Ox Aventa LX towbar and bracket and ordered it last Friday. Bracket should not interfere with most bumper choices but may require some modification to any after market skid plates. I did install a US Gear Unified tow brake system, and also wired the tail lights using diodes. That part is done but just waiting for the tow bar to arrive. Once it arrives I'll let you know how it works.

Interested in experience / do's / don'ts / and any specific equipment recommendations or warnings.

I have run vehicles on trailers and on dollies but never with all 4 down and wondered what the experiences were with the JK.

When I ordered the vehicle, I was told that when the transfer case was placed into neutral - miles should not register.

However, the key does need to be turned in order to unlock the steering.

jeepbozo - thanks please let me know. I definitely want to go with a winch in the front very soon and had a feeling this was going to be an issue.

Same here jeepbozo, please post pics when you get it installed. I am going to be lifting the jeep and putting 35's on it, along with an aftermarket bumper/winch. I'll have to do a lot of research to see what setup will work. I'll have something custom fab'd if I have to, but I'd rather not.

Always tow the JK with the trans in Park, 1st or reverse in a stick, and the transfer case in Neutral. Remember to leave the key in and turn to the first click to release the steering lock.

Mileage is not affected by towing.
