Tow Rigs - What are you using to tow your toy?
Good Morning, i need some help finding a decent rig to tow my four door. It's getting to the point where i don't feel right taking it a couple hours away to wheel and have something happen while i'm on the trail. So i'm asking for your opinion on a good tow rig. What have you had success with?

X2 on the above choices..IMO best option.
Excursions need their suspensions, wheels and tires changed out..lots of info on this on the Ford forums.
OBS trucks could use Stage 1 inj's and a IC.
Just make sure you don't get newer than a 7.3 diesel.

What he said sums it up great. It just depends on what your looking for in the truck though. If you strictly want a truck for towing go with the a 2003 or older with the 7.3l because they're like the mules of the light duty diesel industry and have legendary towing status and they get good gas mileage as with most of the ford diesels even the newer ones with some good mods. If you want something fast and that if you're in the mood to drag with someone go with an '05-'07 6.0l because you can easily get over 1000hp and over 1800 ft.-lbs. of torque if you're really power hungry and it's still just as reliable as if it were stock and i have seen videos of the 6.0l psds beating camaros and mustangs and other fast cars stock or with just a tuner at least. Go on youtube and there's like thousands of videos of people racing their 6.0 and a lot of them won the race too but don't get an '03.5-'04 cause they had some serious problems and they were fixing them in the '05s so i'd say get an '06-'07 6.0l psd. Then after that the 6.4l and the 6.7l psds are also great but if you get those get a dpf delete w/ tuner because your gas mileage will go up by at least 3-5 mpg's and your power will go up by a lot too

Your never going to see a 1000 HP 6.0 or is it even remotely easy to do with any Ford diesel.
You must be trying to sell your 6.0

I use to tow with an 05 Duramax.
I switched to a 12 Ram 3500 Laramie. I lifted it 3", deleted it, and run 35s. I am very, very happy with the results. Because it is a SRW shortbed, it won't work with my wedge trailer anymore, but it pulls my 2 car flatbed very well.
