Default Too much mud?!

I went off roading this weekend and went through some huge puddles... too fast... and again and again. At first the water would shoot out the sides of the fenders, then a huge wall of water would build at the front grill, then wash over the hood and halfway up the windshield. My buddy's 2001 Wrangler never got the second wave over the hood.

The upside: way fun and the kids loved it.
The downside, mud in the radiator and shorting the radiator fan which caused it to overheat.

Anyone else get a wash over the hood? The dealer said that's what shorted the fan and I should just drive slower through mud.

Whadda you think? Did I make a stupid (but fun!!) newbie mistake, or should the Jeep have handled it?

Here's a link to a video of it. The deep stuff is at the end.

Looked like a lot of fun. You were driving the hell out of that jeep. I believe it's called the adrenaline factor. Gets us all at some point or another. Take it slower, though, any time that much water/mud comes over your hood, your screwing up. Be glad you don't have a CAI, could of sucked up water.

cold air intake. it replaces the stock air box with an open filter. bad for water fording if you are not careful!
