TJ to JK your thoughts......
So I finally realized the two things I like about my JK more than my TJ. Those two things being #1 I now have more than 1 cup holder. #2 my windshield wipers have more than 2 speeds, fast and super fast. What are your 2 favorite things about the JK over the TJ?

- Better suspension in a chassis that was designed to be coil spring from the git-go.
- More interior space.
- Power options (windows, mirrors, remote locks).
- Removable panels in the hard top.
- Hill Descent Assist with the auto.
I never could count!

Easier/more durable soft top.
Standard Dana 44.
More space.
TJs weren't meant to be coil sprung? The suspension set up is 95% similar though maybe better spring/shock combo with a more rigid frame.
Standard Dana 44.
More space.

More room, all around- seats five and more storage in the back.
It's the first new vehicle I've had in 20 years, It's nice to break one in.
I agree with yours also, but I solved the cupholder think with a tuffy console on my TJ

I still miss my TJ sometimes.
- 4 doors plus cargo room behind the rear seat
- Extended wheelbase
- Better standard equipment (rear D44 w/ limited slip)
- Wider stands
- More stable
Dislikes
- 3.8L engine on 07-11
- More expensive to modify
- More plastic
- Wider turning radius

The sunrider top is another one I enjoy, quick to flip back if you don't have or want to take time to put the top down.
The JK is a lot of first for me.
1st auto with A/C
1st new Jeep (5th Jeep)
1st new one with an auto trans.
1st with sirius radio.
1st with power options (windows, door locks, etc)

3.6 instead of the 4cylinder I had in the TJ. So it's actually worth modding.
4 doors and a trunk! Should have traded years ago.
Full doors, had the plastic cut on my TJ when it was broken into.

My current Jeep is my 4th; I've been through 2 TJs, a CJ and even a DJ-5 (my first car)
Likes:
I can now drive +70 MPH (my last TJ was a 2.5 L 4 cyl)
Bigger/stronger everything
4 doors/room for the kids and camping stuff finally!
more comfortable
better gas mileage
easier to live with soft top
quieter
much higher build quality
What I don't like as much:
The JK manual Tranny. It whips around like a snake in a blender on the rough stuff and is not very smooth, hard to find 6th gear sometimes.
Size. It's nice to have more room for kids and stuff but it isn't as nimble as my old jeeps.
Price. My last TJ (2002) was 14K brand new. My JKU was almost twice that.
No snap-out carpet like the TJ
too much plastic inside, plastic fenders are practical but still a bit wierd looking.
Hard to get a bare-bones JK, have to get AC and other gadgets. I had to search a bit to find one with manual windows/locks.
The JKU just doesn't feel "Jeepish" enough in the end for me. It's too big, cushy, problem-free, expensive and fancy.
But the pros outweigh the cons and you'd have to be crazy (or jealous) to say the TJ was all-out better than the JK.

I am also in the same boat, Have a 2001 TJ Sport and got my self a 2012 JKU Rubi...
Going from the TJ to the JK is a HUGE difference.. the TJ has the I-6 4.0 and that is nothing compared to the Pentastar engine. I finally feel like my Jeep has nuts... Both the TJ and JK are manual, the manual on the JK is a bit odd.. with the way the stick is shaped it can be hard to find 6th (saw someone else post this)
I say go for it.. it is a MUCH nicer ride on the 2012 then the 01TJ
