Default Thinking about another Wrangler

I'm thinking about a new Wrangler, had a 2012 COD, nothing but troubles, lifters twice, replaced transmission, replaced motor, all servicing was done as described in the manual...
Traded it in on a 2015 Cherokee TH, transmission is problematic down shifting from 3rd to 1st....
Anyways, I really like the Wrangler other than the problems, that said, how are the 2016 Rubicons, and would it be worth while waiting for 2017.
I'll do my research but was looking for some quick details.

I'm excited to see if they really do make the diesel engine in 2017.

Sorry you experienced bad things. I have a 2012 JKU sport that I bought new. Now has 71,000 trouble free miles. I am thrilled with my experience so far. I would expect the 2016 to be slightly better just due to the learning curve and minor tweaks done since 2012.

Sure, do the new Wrangler, but not an auto. The 3.6/6-speed manual is a proven combo now. Wouldn't trust the new Cherokee 9-speed as far as I could throw it (not far). The rest of the Wrangler architecture is old-hat for Fiat/Chrysler now so, wouldn't hesitate on a 2016 Wrangler. But, if you can wait, the JL Wrangler is just around the corner...might be worth waiting to see what it's all about, but that's only if you're willing to forego having a Jeep Wrangler for a while until the new ones come down to normal pricing.

My 2013 with 6-speed manual had been great, no troubles at all.

I'm waiting to see if a diesel shows up for 2017or 2018 but only because I currently have 2008 jku in perfect working order and I'm in no rush.

2012's were the first year model. I am sure 2017's have to be better, it's the last year model. I am thinking of a 2017 myself.

My 2015 manual has been trouble free. I too had a 2012 with lots of issues but they seem to have been worked out.
