Talk Me In or Out of a New Jeep

No sense in completely ruling out the'11. Many people will tell you that the ole 3.8L has plenty of reasons to like it. Proven power plant that will be good for up to 300k miles. New interior. The '12s have tons of issues with everything from heads to transmissions. I like the power, but that's not everything.

35,9xx miles on my 2012 JKUR and zero issues. Picked it up in August of 2011, just passed the 3 year mark. Was in for just one thing since I bought it. The trans lines, which that issue extends to many other year models as well.

Keep your Jeep. Pay it off. Take care of it. Wait for the 18 and see if you like it. If so, you'll be all set to get it. If not, refer back to point 3 and you still have a great Jeep. Go out now, wash, wax, armor all the interior and vacuum it out. Clean it like it's for sale and you'll never want to sell it. That's what I do every time I get back from riding around with my buddy that has a much newer JK.
Then I think about how great it is to have free and clear with no payment.

Jeep your current jeep, save and pay that one off. Then enjoy the months of no loan payments!
My 08 has been paid off for a number of years now, 157,000KM on the clock. I hear what you are saying on miles, but just stay 100% on top of all maintenance.
I'm saving for a new one late 2016 I guess....which would be last model year from what I understand for the JK then the JL is to be a 2017 model released on 2016. If Jeep has gone too far to cater to the mall crawler crowd 2016 it is.
No load patents is a awesome thing leverage it!
Oh and stay away from the new Jeep smell as long as you can

Traded my 2 dr 2008 Rubi for a 2015 unlimited Willys. Best decision I ever made. The engine power difference is huge. I can see myself holding on to this care for 20 years. The interior and features are amazing.

If you can stroke a check for it and get the creature comforts you want and money is not an issue then get what you want. If you have to budget for it and make payments then you really can't affort a new vehicle. Although I own two 3.8 motors I would go to a 2013 model if trading up on a used jeep. I would not be concerened with 80,000 miles on the 3.8 if you do the regular maintence on it. My wifes JKU has 150,000 miles with no real issues. All we have replaced is the battery (80,000), clutch (120,000), and water pump (150,000). In reality the clutch plates were fine but the trow out bearing was bad and I just replaced it all when I was in there.

I appreciate all of you that left a reply. A lot of good advice for both sides. I will probably stick with my current Jeep and get her built up the way I want it. Who knows, maybe once the new Jeeps roll out mine will be worth a little more...
By the way, this whole idea sprang from someone offering me $20k for mine.

I feel like everyone hates on the new Jeeps. And all of us grew up wanting the older ones when we were younger. So why trade up? Mod that b*tch up and let it become an old Jeep that will make other up and comers want one.
