Default TAlk me out of 2016 2 door...

Thinking of getting new jk. I've had 2010 JKU and now a 2013 JKUR. both lifted on 35". Loved both, used as daily driver and off-road Jeep events several times a year. Had the usual problems getting high sided on some hills, but overall great jeeps. thinking maybe something different...How is the 2 door on a daily basis? don't drive far to work and kids are old enough, have there own cars. ALso is 4:10 in a rubicon 2 door the way to go, or in a lighter 2 dr a 3.73 good enough, both having 35". sorry for so many question, but any advice would help....

i have a 2 door rubi. the 4.10's on 35 are ok but 4.56 are better. i love my jeep but im single with no kids so all i gotta do is haul my ass around and im good.

My advice is get what you want. i knew for a fact that i wanted a 2 door wrangler knowing i would have limited space but im willing to accept that and im good at tetris so i can still get just about anything i need to fit into the jeep. If all else fails i can get one of those hitch baskets for even more space.

I LOVE my "15 JKR, that said I just put it back to stock this weekend to start the process of getting a JKU. I have 2 younger kids and my wife and I have broken down and are ready for more room again (had a "14jku before)

Yea mine is a 2013, so engine and trans the same. I'm running 3.73 gears and 35" but here in Florida, it's not a problem at all. I love the way a 2 door looks top off and doors off..but I admit with hard top on and all doors on, 4 doors look great. just thinking a soft top 2 door might be a fun change. current hard top is a pain to remove and I admit it's a little long in tight turns on trails. just was curious on day to day use..also a few Jeep events with its courses.

I just bought a 2016 hard rock, but in 4 door. (Not sure if they make hard rocks in 2 door), but I've been very pleased with mine. I was updating from a 2007 4 door sport, so it's been a big change for me. I bought a 2016 so I wouldn't have the problems of the early year wranglers (2007) or the problems of the JL's before they get fixed. For me, it's been the perfect vehicle.

My wife and friends strongly suggested a 4 door automatic. I came home with a 2 door 6 speed Rubicon hard top. Did some mods. 2.5 inch AEV lift plus AEV fuel caddy, winch, better skids, 33 inch tires and 4.56 gearing. Back seat pulled out. Engel fridge on a slide with a partner stove on another slide underneath it. Fold down tail gate table. Lift in the garage to raise up the hard top off the jeep for summer. Yeah, I like to camp. Daily driver and takes me anywhere I want to go in the southwest. Click image for larger version

Default Talk you out of it!

You should get what you want! I'm in a different boat. Bought a 2 door Freedom Edition last Feb. 3:73 gears, auto trans. etc. NOW, ready to trade for a 4 door. Need more room and a little better ride. They all hold their value, but I think the dealer is still trying to steal it. That's what is holding me up for the moment. With the 2 of us and the dogs, I should have gotten the 4 door to begin with, but I wanted to be different this time. Four doors are everywhere and with a 2 door, you don't really see yourself coming and going.

I have had two 4 doors. When I bought my first one I really wanted a 2 door but wife said lets get a 4 door instead, I was just happy she said we could get a jeep lol. Then when I bought my current one (14 jkur bought new) I really wanted a 2 door and was set on getting one and for some reason decided a 4 door still made more sense. I am still jonesing for a 2 door. If I could get a decent trade on mine I would be all over a 2 door.
