Synthetic 100%. I switced and would never go back to steel. Any Synthetic if properly cared for will last a long time. Steel will not last very long at all unless u r SUPER careful about spooling it back on. Mine only lasted 1/2 the summer before I kinked it very bad in 3 spots. When u use ur winch a lot in one day, it is very easy to get it overlaping and the next hard pull u do, the cable gets kinked and then it needs to be replaced. With synthetic, this doenst happen. In my opinion, if u use ur winch a lot, synthetic will out last steel.
