Does anyone know about which company manufactures winter tires that have like some type of minerals/rocks/diamonds embedded in the tread of the tire. Its usually used for ice. I saw it one time in the jeep magazine. Thank ya

Toyo makes some tires that have crushed walnut shell embeded in the rubber tread. A guy that I work with got some of these for his wife's truck and he said they were phenomenal for winter icey roads. I think they are called Microbit tires.

Hhhmmm I don't recall Toyo making them. Any how I'll look into those though. You did say walnut shells? They must be some damn strong walnuts to grip on ice. But they sound awesome.

OBSERVE OPEN COUNTRY G-02 PLUS
The Observe Open Country G-02 Plus is a winter tire designed for light trucks and SUVs. It delivers improved performance in snow and ice as well as wet and dry conditions plus has an increase in tire life.

This tire also features exclusive Microbit Technology with ground walnut shells that dig into snow and ice combined with a tread design and special winter rubber compounds that offer improved winter traction.

The result is an environmentally friendly winter tire with reduced noise and improved ride comfort.

I personally have an Open Country with metal studs... super quiet, great on ice !!!
