Default Strange noise this morning.

it's around 45 degrees and rainy. When I went out and started my 07 sahara, I heard this crackling coming from the engine. It sounded like touching a positive wire to a ground. I opened the hood and it sounded like it was coming from all over the engine, even where there was no electrical parts. No smoke or sparks I could see. This lasted for several minutes then just faded away. I did nothing or added anything to the electrical. Any one ever hear this before?????

It's hard to say what it is from a description in an internet post.

Sounds like it may be valve clatter from lack of oil in the lifters.
As the lifters pump up, the noise will fade away.
If it is valve clatter, it shouldn't last for several minutes. That would be a bad sign.

Have you checked the engine oil level lately?

It's not valve tapping. Plus I just changed the oil a few weeks ago.

I think the "rainy" maybe the clue here, if it was blowing and rain could have some wet manifold or pipes and steaming off for a bit maybe.
