I traded my '06 GC WK SRT8 for my '12 Rubi. I can say one thing, the JK gets a lot more compliments. Unfortunately most people had no idea what the SRT8 was. I luved the SRT8, just wanted a change, & I wasn't impressed w/the WK2's specs. The SRT8 has gobs of instant power, handles great, & brakes great. It only has about ~7" of ground clearance. The '06-'10 are basically the same, mostly cosmetic changes made in '08(& radio). If I was buying one I'd try & get a stock one, or get an extended warranty if its modded. JMO.

Surprisingly, I drove mine for 5 winters (~30 miles a week?), & thought it did quite well for having such wide performance tires. I had a WJ 4.7L quadratrac 2 before, & the SRT8's AWD was better (reacted faster).

Just keep in mind if money is an issue you will be running a lot of premium fuel through that hemi.

If you drive it much and have fun in it, the fuel costs may eat up your payment savings.

I recently bought my wife a 2012 Cherokee with the 3.6. I much prefer the power of my Wrangler of course, but hers is fairly peppy if one is willing to keep the RPM's up there. I can imagine the Sport mode with the tap shift would be a blast with a V-8 in there.

if you're buying new then go ahead. Buying used with 60,000 - 80,000 is crazy, everyone of all ages beat the balls at these trucks see it all the time where I live. When you get that SRT8 it is going to be full of worn out retired parts. Think carefully my friend.

Ahhh someone agrees with me ! The guy who wants the SRT is my older brother and this is what I've been telling him, don't buy a used car especially when you know it's something that people beat on.
