Special order srt8 engine for 2013
So a buddy of mine works for a local jeep dealership and he told me that 2013 wranglers will have an option for the grand Cherokee srt8 motor. It has to be specially ordered, but he said it will be an option. Thought he was BSing, but he's adamant about it. Pretty interesting if it's true.

until I see paperwork showing it I wont believe it, and when I see the paperwork I will be stocking up all of my old parts to make sure I can return my jeep to stock to trade it in to the dealer and order my SRT-8 haha

There is no such thing as a simple SRT8 engine option. The Wrangler will need upgraded brakes, differentials, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts etc. It will be a $20k option.

This big of an overhaul coming up this close on the pentastar's heels doesn't make fiscal sense to me. The way these things handle, going faster isn't for me.

Im not gonna say youre full of it, but I do believe your friend was misinformed. Somewhere down the line someone heard someone talking about an srt8 wrangler and someone got confused. I'd belive in us getting a diesel option before getting a hemi. Not to mention hearing anything about the 2013's while the 2012's are just filling spots of sold 2011's is a little hard to swallow.

He's a pretty reputable guy, so I'm just saying what he told me. I don't know it to be factual, but just passing the word along. A V8 option would be sweet though. Guess we'll see.

I don't think Jeep would go directly from a V-6 platform straight to the SRT-8 platform anyways. Maybe a standard 5.7 Hemi option but I don't think we will ever see an SRT-8 Wrangler
