Some of the dumbest things that come out of dealer sales peoples mouths....

I told the dealer that I don't want a 3.73 automatic Rubicon...the sales manager with the sales guy both told me that the Rubicon only comes with 4.10 in both manual and automatic.
Then they also told me that the Artic Edition is the same as a Rubicon.
Then they tried to make me justify why I need a Rubicon as opposed to a Sport.
Then they actually thought I'd still buy a car from idiots.

The salesman told me the plastic wrapped object in the back was the soft top when it was actually the freedom panels bag, he also told me it had the premium speakers when in fact it did not, so when he called me 2 days later asking what it'd take to get me in that jeep I informed I had purchased one right after I left his lot!!

When in the process of buying my 2011 Sport (signing paperwork, etc..) The salesman felt the need to tell me all about the Jeep wave, which was cool that he was explaining this but he went on about it for maybe 15 minutes, I had to stop him and tell him I've owned jeeps for 10 years, belong to two Jeep clubs, am a member on maybe 5 jeep forums and I've been doing the jeep wave the whole time...but I appreciated his enthusiasm and encouraged him to keep on telling people about it. He smiled and gave me a discount on some aftermarket parts I think he was embarassed for some reason. he thought he was top sh!t explaining a freaking "wave" to me
But yes, I understand what it's like to have something explained to you about a jeep that they don't know crap about and you know everything about...I let them have their moment before putting them down

I went to a dealer a few weeks ago, and the sales guy said a 2013 Rubicon payment was going to be over $900 if I didn't put down at least 10k.
He also said the 4:1 listed on the build sheet was the same thing as 4:10 gearing.
Of course, he tried to get me to purchase a 2012 even though I told him multiple times I only wanted a 2013 and wanted to place an order. I even told him I was only considering black. He went to his manager, and came back with a 2012 that had the wrong gears, wrong options, and was red. Full MSRP price, too.
A few days later, his manager called me and said that I needed to place an order for the 2013 that day, because if I didn't place it by 5pm then it would be too late to get one.
He actually sent me the pdf of a credit card form to give him the $500 deposit.
Needless to say...I placed an order with another dealership 25 miles away and drove home my 2013 on Saturday.

Congrats on the 2013 by the way. What color?

I know this thread is devoted to dealer reps who know nothing about the vehicles. But after reading a few of these, I realized that my dealership experience was nothing like what I've read here. At both dealerships I visited I met with sales people who were knowledgeable about the product. The only reason I did not buy at the first one is because they could not match my price, a differential between my trade and the JK. The salesman I dealt with at the second dealership,by far the largest in the area, had owned a CJ or Wrangler for decades. He knew a lot about the history of the brand, the changes to the JK over its model life, and the various options. On top of that he was a real gentleman. After the sale, when he had nothing to gain from good behavior, he answered a couple questions by email almost instantaneously. I am not sure whether it is ok to mention a dealership and rep under the forum rules, but if it is I am glad to reply.
