Been thinking about the same thing... What a sad, sad thread. Putting off taking the soft top off as LONG as possible but the season has already started to turn cold here in New England.

Windows flat and the roof in some sort of sealed bag to fend off the mice.

somewhere up, somewhere dry, somewhere not the floor of the garage ...

rolled up the YJ top into the boot, put it against the wall for the summer (no top summer, softtop for winter). opened it up and 5 baby mice fell out and was a 2x3" hole chewed in the middle of the pass side corner ... i was pissed!

Don't forget to hang the top and windows to make it more difficult for the mice if you are storing it outside in a shed/garage/carport. It's amazing how those damn mice can reach & climb to items or squeeze threw tiny holes or openings to make a big mess.

in process of building a rack to lay the tops themselves over for mine and the wife's rig's. The windows should be able to lay flat on the shelf i'm incorporating, if not they'll just lay over and hang. To protect the windows themselves I picked up 3 of those micro-fleece blankets (50"x60" I think) to slip the windows in and protect from dust and scratches.

Just took my soft top off yesterday.....folded it up as usual, then put the dust cover on it, and into the closet it goes....no worries about cold temps, mice, spiders..etc... I purhased the softop window storage bag a couple years ago now, and all the windows go in flat, and zipped up....again put that in the closet too....no worries

If you look at the Jeep Green JK on the left, you will see how I store my soft top for the winter.

I just got my JK. Removed the soft top from under the Hardtop. Now it's stored in my basement. I havn't even opened it up to see what it looks like yet. Guess that will be next summer... In about 7 months....

As for the windows... They are still in the original box, in my basement. I guess that's ok.

The tale of two tops.

During the winter I clean the top diligently, then foldit in an orderly fashion so there are no creases. I then wrap it moderately loosely with moving plastic wrap to keep dust and bugs out. I was worried about trapping moisture, so unwrapped it after a couple of months and it was fine. I then layed it on top of some plywood, but it uses too much space so I will probably hang it.

I just roll the windows in a large towel.

But then when the summer comes the pampering ends, and I wear the hell out of it in 110+ degree sunlight, dirt, sand, smog, rocks, branches and mud.

Hmmmmmmmm
