Soft top or put the hard top back on for 12hr drive?

Perosnally I would just use the soft top, but as you said, the significant other plays a part. If she wants the hard top, rock it for the drive. A happy woman is a happy vacation. Start if off on the right foot.

I don't think my doors have been on for more then a few days since May so doors off on the beach is a no brainer. LOL

my preferred way of traveling long trips in the hot summer is 'bonnet' mode.. doors off, top up, all the windows out...
that keeps the hot sun off but great open air feeling...
then again i have soft doors i can take with me which helps...

I would go with the soft top. A bit louder when travelling than the hard top, but way easier to put down at the beach and no hassles of storing the HT.
Last year when we were down to the OBX the fishing was great (the kids really enjoyed the night fishing off the pier)
I so want to go back with the Jeep this time.

Soft Top, just in case the Garage is full of junk that you can't move around. Then you're stuck with the Hard Top on during the entire trip.
Then again..... "A Happy Wife = A Happy Life!!!"
While you're in Corolla, drive down to Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk (Wright Brothers Museum of First Flight...), Manteo, Cape Hatteras, and take the Ferry over to Ocracoke! You'll be glad you did! Hwy-12 is a nice Scenic Beach Drive, as long as the Beach isn't covering it!
Lotsa Lighthouses out that way too..... Corolla Light, Bodie Island Light, Hatteras Light, and Ocracoke Light.
Best of Luck & Have a Safe Trip!!!
Cheers!

I went topless driving back to NJ from Charleston...no problem. I did put the top up after the sun went down, but most of the way was topless. You will be fine with the soft top, then loose it when you get there..
