I spend an awefully long time cleaning my TJ after off-roading in mud. Jeep is put on jack stands, wheels come off and underside and brakes get thoroughly steam cleaned. Body is washed and polished as are the fender flares. Tyre gel gets applied and the frame and bumpers thoroughly sprayed with WD40. This can take me three to four hourse. I love off roading but also like to drive around in a shiny Jeep on the road and don't mind the cleaning at all. It's all part of proper vehicle maintenance as far as I'm concerned.

My JK gets the "car detailing" treatment as I have that one in CA and haven't got the facilities to really clean her myself but then I haven't introduced her to a lot of mud yet and that's exactly the beauty of wheeling in the US as you guys have ample of rocks to play on. She's in storage until my next trip early October...

It takes me an hour if I wash/dry it by myself. If my husband helps, then 1/2 the time. I like to keep my Jeep clean. I have no problem getting it dirty offroad, but I always wash it when I get home, or at least within a day or two if I'm busy.

Unlike some of you, I don't want my Jeep prematurely turning into a rust bucket.

I usually wash my Jeep once a month. Takes about 20 minutes. The only part I wax is the hood. I love a nice, shiny hood... How light reflects off of it, the way water beads up on it, how slippery it feels when you run your shirt sleeve over it... I think I have a hood fetish.

The funny thing is, i didn't even get to my dash yet So far i completely washed my undercarriage, the jeep itself, engine bay, and my radiator.
To me, after 20 minutes it stops being washing and becomes detailing.

There are an awful lot of nooks and crannies just on the outside to clean up especially when compared to my wife's Solstice.

After all that work (even though I'm sure it's a labor of love) aren't you afraid of getting it dirty again?

I wash mine normally once a week:

Rinse: 5mins
Hand Wash: 10mins
Rinse: 10mins
Hand Wash: 20mins
Rinse: 10mins
Leather Dry: 40mins
HD Paint Cleanse: 30mins
Wax On: 60mins
Wax Off: 30mins
Buff: 20mins
Polish On: 45mins
Polish Off: 30mins
Buff: 20mins
Buff: 10mins

All using Mequiars paint treatments

every 6mths I claybar the paint also and that takes about 3hrs per panel, so normally takes a good weekends work

Then its time for the wheels, this is just a spray on treatment, and the interior never gets dirty as i clean as i go inside

so whats that then 340mins or just over 5hrs - but its black so i guess thats life
