Have you considered an Autotaser? Google it or go to www.truckstuff.org/alarm/autotaser.htm Works well on neighborhood cats, too.

conversation with the parents should go like this....
Hi I noticed someone in my Jeep last night. I was a bit tired on the way ou to meet him and grabbed for something on the way out. This time I happened to get the camera. Next in the rotation is my bat. The only choice next time is aluminum or wood?

Don't go the bat route. I'd assume the penalty for assault is greater than the penalty for theft.
Just pick up the phone and call the cops. Hopefully, they'll respond soon enough to catch him in the act. If not, show them the pic of the first time you caught him to show them you weren't pranking them.

Yeah it would be different if they were breaking in your house, at that point it's game-on. Can't wait to hear what his parents say because more than anything that interests me. He's a lucky little POS in that he got away, I'd have have gone Tonya Harding on his knee with a krobar just for good measure...sorta like T2 when Arnold says "he'll live"...
awesome setup, thanks for sharing.
wonder what a semi horn would feel like in his ears....like on hornblasters.com...just rig it up the same way that would have left a memory too

Definitely POST THE PIC ON HERE I've got to see that.
You should definitely bring the police with you to his house.
If he's breaking into your jeep, I'll bet he's stealing stuff from everyone in the area. Even if you don't prosecute, at least the police now have a suspect for other area thefts. They may be able to clear a bunch of cases in your area, just from the suspect you handed them
