Shrockworks Rocks!!!!

I had Shrock's sliders and skids on my Xterra a few years ago. Great products, the wait was about six weeks, but what irritates me is that they charge your card weeks or months before shipping. I don't even think they are supposed to do that according to the card companies (much like those minimum purchase requirements some shops have, etc...they against their merchant agreements - but who knows, maybe theirs allows it) and in some jurisdictions I've read it's even illegal. I don't like this practice at all. They are floating your money and I think it's kinda shady. I'm assuming they do it to discourage cancellations, which usually have a 60-day limit to issue a chargeback with a card company. So after 2 months you've got no choice.
For that reason as much as I'd like to buy from them again, I'm not going to if they are charging my card and shipping months and months later. I'll go with another company.

As for the time for the refund: Several folks here on JK-Forum have canceled their orders with Shrockworks after waiting what they considered too long (i.e.--they didn't pay attention to the frequent warnings here on JK-Forum!), yet I don't remember anyone commenting that they had to wait an excessive time for the refund to appear on their credit card.

Yeah, I don't like that practice, either. However, basically what you're saying is that if a person wants to order a custom part for their car or Jeep, or furnishing for their house, or whatever that might take months to deliver, it's illegal for the company they're doing business with to take a deposit. That's silly and probably outright incorrect. My biggest worry with the practice is that if something were to happen to Shrockworks that put them out of business--let your imagination for misfortune run wild here--I'm not certain that I could get a refund from the charge card company after 90 days. I might just become another creditor standing in line at bankruptcy court for pennies on the dollar.
