Default Should i do this.....??

Trade my two door 12 auto for a two door 6speed???? I haven't modified my 12 as of yet but before dumping money into it, should I just wait and upgrade it to a 13 6 speed, I'm just a standard guy and although I like the auto, I feel as though I will be a lot happier and have a better relationship with my jeep if it were a 6 speed, I just love the feeling I get from shifting and shifting whenever I feel is necessary to maintain speed or to decrease. Thoughts opinions please help my make my mind once and for all!!

A lot of it depends on what you plan on doing with your jeep, I bought the six speed when I bought mine and to be honest I wish I would of went with the auto . The throttle on these new jeeps is an electronic fly by wire throttle , so trying to drive the 6 speed can be kind of a pain in the ass ....and with the esp offroad in 4 hi is a big pain in the ass , especially in the mud , I have to ride the clutch Damn near all the time when I'm in 4 hi and I hate doing that . keep your automatic man ...you'll be glad you did! The new 5 speed automatic is lightyears ahead of all the older 4speeds. Oh did I mention my throwout bearing has been noisy since day one...

I guess it depends on how you use your jeep and where you live... I am and always have been a huge fan of manual and my '12 2 door is a manual, I absolutely love every second of it. The control over shifting and even fuel economy are huge, off roading is definitely more challenging, but I like the challenge keeps things interesting. At the same time tho there are things to consider when off roading in a manual like not clutching while water fording, feathering your clutching while in 4lo and so on...

I live 45 mins away from a major city so that helps too, I couldn't imagine being in a big city with a manual Jeep. I could see how constant shifting would loose its appeal real fast...

Short answer, depends on where and how u use your Jeep...

I am the type of personal that would only own a 6 speed. So, i know the feeling of not being totally satisfied. I personally love driving a stick day in and day out. If you are like me you won't be happy till you do it.

my love for the Jeep was with my 2000 Jeep Sahara 2 door manual. Tried the manual on the 4 door, it was horrible. Felt like driving a bus. 2 door, I might consider it again.

I've come to the conclusion that I have to just go back to the dealer, test drive a 2 door 6 speed and see how I like it, as someone mentioned here, I also test drove the 4 door 6 speed and it felt like driving a bus, I'm hoping the 2 door will impress me, if not ill just keep the auto and dump the money into it for modifications.

Just by trading the forums it seems the auto is more reliable at this point, although I would gladly take the slightly steeper OD gear in the stick. I swear my auto doesn't fully lock up.
