I guess I'm the odd ball. I have a 2012 2-door and want a 2013 Scion FR-S. The Jeep is just too unrefined for my tastes

I paid 28k for my 2012 JKU sport, fully loaded but with a soft top (traded my 2012 JKU hardtop)

It had 4 miles on it when I took the test drive .

Unless you just have to have a Rubicon, go to Jeep | 4X4 Off-Road SUV Crossover Vehicles | Jeep Models and search dealer inventory for a 2012. I traded a 2009 Chevy Ext. Cab LTZ on an '09 Wrangler X 2 door. I loved it, but it lacked power, and I think it had been "rode hard and put up wet," as they say. Friday I test drove a 2012 Wrangler Sport with the Pentastar. Loads more zip with the throttle, and I got a smoking deal. As far as comfort, I've driven 2 other Jeeps, my brother's 1993 and a 1997 I rented in Colorado. There is no comparison. It is still a Jeep, but the comfort and ride is outstanding for a Jeep. A soft top will be noisy. The hard top on my new Jeep is very quiet and the interior is very refined, not that most want that much refinement in a Jeep. If you get a manual, try to get one with the 3.73 rear end. Go to Kelly Blue book and find out what the invoice price should be and don't give more than $500 over it. Counter their first offer with $1000 below dealer invoice and go from there. If it has a soft top and you want a hard top, check craigslist. I promise, if you drive the '09, then drive one with the new motor, you'll want the new one. Here is one I found on jeep.com.

Price seems slightly high for the year.

If you don't plan to offroad a bunch and would prefer a better cabin and on-road driving charateristics, I would look at the sport in the 12's and up.

I enjoy my Wrangler, but im glad to have a WRX around for long trips and for when I want to feel like I have more torque than a Yugo.

Yeah, for that year and mileage and if it's stock then that price is way high. You could get a new(er) 2012 JKU for around $31,000+ or a 2011 for $28K

I also agree with the "get a Sport" if you don't plan on wheeling much. I got my 2dr 2011 Sport in the Summer of 2011 w/ 318 miles on it for $27,000 + interest/fees.

Durango probably weighs a lot more than the Jeep. I drove 2 last Friday, a 2013 w/ auto & a 2012 with manual. Much improved power. I bought the '12.

Is this going to be your primary family car or a second vehicle? I traded my loaded '06 Dakota SLT crew cab for my '12 basic 2-dr Sport JK. The truck was much more luxurious and probably had more genuine utility, but it wasn't really 'fun' to drive. The JK is that in spades. It's my daily driver, but my wife's CTS is available when we need a more 'practical' vehicle for our longer trips. That said, I'd be much more comfortable driving this Jeep on a long trip than my old '95 YJ. A hardtop JKU should be OK for hauling a family; the SWB JK, not so much.

Roger that. I had an Infiniti G35 & and it would move like a scalded ape, but the Jeep is more fun & and its actually very comfortable + mucho capable off road. Nothing like pulling the top off 2! Whether u drive it around town or off road, it's a lot of fun. Top down trip to New Orleans was great!
