Default Rusty hinges

I've seen a few post about the door hinges rusting. What are you doing to protect your hinges? Has DC been any help? I'd hate to think what the long term effects would be. Are we all going to have our doors falling off in 2 years?

Default Door Hinges Rusting

Yes, I've noticed this too. The hinges are cool (as is the entire vehicle) but they stick out and tend to catch a lot of rocks. I'm already getting rust spots in places where rocks have taken the paint off. Dealership will obviously say that this is not a warranty issue, so I am trying to figure out a fix. I may have a body shop take the hinges off, refinish and repaint them, and then coat them with a clear plastic or something to protect from rock dings.

Ideas???

There's a 3 year anti-corrosion warranty. I'd fight for that...

I agree - this is probably the best way to attack the issue. That being said, most anti-corrosion warranties only cover "rust-through" situations, not surface rust...

Try using the warranty, and if that doesn't work, you can always sand and Rustoleum your rusting hinges.

If it's caused by rocks , get a bottle of touch up paint.

anyone know if the anti-corrosion warranty applies to the hinges under the folding rear seats of the four door? I've noticed some rust there and I have never had rain get to that part of the jeep.
