It would be a bad deal for M&M to buy Jeep. The brand is very American. Sales of Jeep would plummet.

I think it is possible that Cerebus will break up the group, but I would think that they would do it all at once. If you sell part, the other parts are even smaller and everyone would know that you have to unload the remaining parts, thus reducing their value.

Anyone know how the Chrysler group is financed? If they have to go out and get more cash, either from slower sales, or refinancing debt, the current tight credit market might force them to do something.

Just curious, but did sales drop when it was owned by Daimler?

And seriously, M&M is an industrial and agricultural vehicle producer? I would think that may actually be a GOOD thing. The management (hopefully) is in the mindset of PURPOSE BUILT vehicles. I can see how the Wrangler would fit in there, and that the management would "get" it.

Lovely thing about rumors is that we can twist them pretty much any direction.

I view German ownership completely different from Indian ownership.

You do make a good argument though.

Crap what a punch in the gut.... First they take millions of jobs and then they take the last American Icon.... crpa crap crap.... I'll sell if this is the case.

I'd take Japan or germany taking the vehicle (barely) but this would be the death of the jeep.

Yeah, that would indeed suck balls if they destroy the Jeep brand (or even do a major reconstruction).

Sales didn't plummet when Germans owned Jeep.
In fact the JK owes alot of it's design and upgrades to German Engineering.

I was thinking about this last night and this morning. I don't really care who owns Jeep as long as the manufacturing stays here. Some more of it is already going foreign thanks to the traitors at Cerberus. If the manufacturing goes overseas then the Jeep brand is dead as far as I care. They can call it a Jeep, but it won't be a Jeep.

Because it was part of Chrysler, which was considered an American car company.

Also, see my previous post.
