seem's kind of like "kill" stickers.

Do they belong to the pilot or the machine...?

I just went with the oval Moab decal

Well, Jeep puts "Rubicon" on plenty of vehicles that have never been there...

I've been on the Rubicon with my Rubicon more than 30 times. Maybe, on average, Jeep has one run of a rubicon on the rubicon for each one sold?
