Rubicon x unlimited worth the extra $$
Have some time but can't wait to get back in a Wrangler. Building various models online and like the Rubicon X. Online it states that you have a choice of transfer cases when you look at what's included in the package. Is this true? Really don't have a need for the rock crawling 4:1
Any opinion on the bumpers? Read that it costs quite a bit to really put a winch on it. Sliders...are they a quality upgrade?

I have a 2014 and love mine.....I have the 6spd manual so it came with 4.10's. Stock wheels are great in my opinion, I just put on 35's today with the stock wheels......The sliders are better than standard rubicon, but they are not bolted to the frame and offer no real rock protection. The hood is awesome I always get questions and comments. The bumpers are steel and very nice, I am not going to change mine out. hope this helped a little. good luck on your choice. Here is a pic of mine.

Depends on if you want those bumpers, rails and hood. I would swap the rails and bumpers if I had one and I would be lifting it. So for me the only thing I would keep is the hood. I put one of those on my 13 Rubi for $725. So in my case the X is a waste of money. All depends on what you plan to do with it.

IMO the 4:1 transfer case is the winner-winner-chicken-dinner of the Rubicon options. It's worth its weight in gold in resale value, and it's also a great option to have on the trail. Why? Because even with buddies with non-Rubi's that have gearing upgrades, you can still usually crawl slower than them with the 4:1. It's nicer to have than not; if too slow; shift a gear and you're back to normal.

As far as sliders, they may not be bolted to the frame, but I've used my hi-lift and jacked up the Jeep on my sliders while installing my lift. They WILL hold up! Like the rest are saying, 4:1 is the way to go for a out of the box off-road capable vehicle. Plus, the rock-trac transfer case is tested tried and true. Simply can't compare it to the command-trac version (lots of posts about that comparison). You would never be able to see the capabilities of your Jeep until you popped it into 4-Low and went where most others can't. Lock your front and rear lockers on your Rubi, disconnect your swaybar, and you'll go places you probably didn't think were possible. Good luck to you in your decision, but you'll love your Rubi-X!

Alright....
You scared the crap out of me. haha!
So, I just got my X and I wasn't aware that the 4:1 T-case was an option, and I certainly didn't click a box for it. But I went and checked, and the 4:1 is standard equipment.
That being said, I believe this X model is the greatest out of the box offering from Jeep ever. It was perfect for me because I don't want to spend a forune on after market parts, and I don't personally plan to go out rock bashing in it. I wanted a perfectly capable adventure vehicle that could handle the occasional rock crawl. So I think it's worth it if those rock rails, hood and bumpers will get the job done for you. That's really the only 3 things that sets it apart from a regular Rubicon. If I was planning on changing the bumpers and rails, it would most certainly not be worth the premium.
EDIT: By the way, I didn't realize it until I had the X at home, but it comes with the AEV front skid plate... At least I think it is. If it's not the AEV one, it's a very nice Jeep rip-off, haha!

I love the look of the bumpers, but I was disappointed that you could not use D-rings on them. Has anyone figure out how to install them? Don't get me wrong, I think the factory hooks are ok, but I like the peace of mind of the rings.
