refund or hack it up
hey guys , New to jeeps, jk's and this forum . We have 2 jk's . The one I have a question about is a 07 4dr. silver sahara auto 4x4 soft top . The seat belt tower on the driver's side has been rattling since it was new. It has been back to 2 different dealers the last time they drilled holes in the door jamb up top scratching the paint and filled it with polyseal (insulation in a can),it still rattles. The dealer told me to live with it or they would take it to a body shop and have them split the seams (grind out the spot welds). Should I be considering a refund or see how it turns out . Any advice would be appreciated.

What kind of rattle? Is it a clunk sound only when you hit bumps? If it is coming from the B pillar of either door this info will help out. It fixed my clunk that was driving me nuts. The door striker may need adjustment.

I've got same thing in my 07 X. At first I thought it was the adjustable belt pully jumping up and down but I held it over a bump and the same sound was there. I tried briefly to take off the pillar plastic cover but had other things to do. Bummer to hear that it may be inside the sheet metal. LMK what turns up for you. Myself, I'd not have someone other than myself hacking up the sheet metal.

I can't help with your noise, but you can put the refund idea out of your mind. If you are going to try lemon lawing them you have to let them try to fix it first so that narrows your options a bit. I guess its live with it, or let them go into it.

Get a lawyer and tell them you are pursuing the lemon law. Ridiculous!
Where do they get these service 'techs" from?, dropouts?
I'm begining to think that Chrysler has young pot smoking engineers and untrained parolees as service "techs".
Just when you've heard one bad story, along comes another.

It's also had the left front ball joint fail (before lift and tires). And it has also had a rattle in front end that the dealer can't find. Will it weaken the (B) pillar since they have drill 2 3/8 holes in it ? I am going to take some before pics and let them see if they can fix it , can't live with that rattle in my ear . Love the forum . Thanks for advice I'll let you what I find out.

dads jK,
Follow ctimrun's link a few posts up. There is a long thread regarding this topic and appaarantly it is a common problem with an easy fix. I tried it last night but i seem to have made it worse judging by my drive into work (that's actually good news since I can adjust things and make it go away). As he said, it has to do with the door striker adjustment. I now know for a fact that is the source of my clunking noise. On way for you to do a quick check is to open the door over a bump that will induce the sound. I did it and there was no clunk.
good luck
