Recharging/cleaning Air Filter
#11
Like a few have stated.....DON'T over oil your filter as it will leach back into your intake tube crating a nice mess and even foul up your intake sensor.
When you clean the filter be sure you are rinsing from the inside out pushing all the dirt and debris away from the filter.
When recharging.... make sure your filter is dry (air dried)... before you add your oil spray. Then about 12 inches away.... just lightly coat the filter with the oil spray. Let it dry for about 1 hour and you will see area's that you missed....just give it another light coat of oil spray to the area's that were missed and repeat till the filter is protected with oil.
Also, I would recommend you get a PRE-FILTER to be placed over the Oiled filter to allow longer intervals to clean/recharge the oiled filter. Also, it helps protect against smaller particles like Silt from making a big mess on the filter when you are off-roading. They are pretty cheap....range from $15 to $30 depending on filter size.
