Rebuilt title on Unlimited
Ok I am thinking about buying a 2008 unlimited X with 3k miles on it. It has soft top and power options. I can get it for $14k. Was side swiped ( supposidly ) Passenger fender bumper nad hood were replaced as well as both front air bags! ALL IS FIXED!!!
Do you think its worth buying for 14k
Thanks for any help

If the frame is solid and straight and you plan on wheeling it hard, it sounds like an ideal fit.
If you keep it for 5+ years the REBUILT branding tends to mean less than on a newer vehicle, plus you might be able to use to it to negotiate an even better price.

rebuilt
Ya the $14k is the lowest he will go! Was asking 17,500
I dont think the warrenty will exist at all because of the title....Had a rebuilt Trans Am a coup;le years ago and no warrenty would be honored.
Ya I was thinking about bringing it to the local jeep dealer to have it inspected too for $150 bucks.
The jeep was rebuilt at a place that does alot of business on salvaged cars...They buy at auction, fix them and then sell them!

Usually, a vehicle with a "Rebuilt" title is worth about 1/2 of what it would've been worth with a "Clean" title. That said, you could also try and run a Car-Fax or AutoCheck on it to see exactly what all had happened, so you're aware of the details before you make a purchase.
"Rebuilt" vehicles will not have any factory warranty - usually, this means that the vehicle was written off as a total loss and/or salvaged. And $14K for an 08 X seems a little on the high side - it's a 4-Door I presume? Automatic/Manual?
Like others have mentioned, selling it down the line may not be as easy; so if you plan on keeping it a while and/or turning it into a trail rig, it may not be a bad investment, but you definitely want to see if there's any frame damage to the vehicle. For a vehicle that was just "side swiped" and fender/hood/airbags replaced, doesn't sound like should have a rebuilt title. Our body shop works on a lot of vehicles in a similar situation and have never seen it to cause a "rebuilt" title.

I bought my 2nd TJ with a "salvage" title and had a hard time getting insurance? I was able to get State Farm to insure it with no problems. It's still in the yard and a lot bigger than it was when I had it. My son bought it when he got home from basic training and has been building it for 2 yrs.
