Really, 9000 miles and I get this...

Got the JK because it was a convertible 4WD, have had numerous warranty issues since purchase...and yes I do know that I am on a JK forum...just wondering how Jeep/Chrysler plans to stay in business with below average quality control. I guess I just needed to vent, the FJ62 was bullet proof...just not a convertible...

I'm sorry, but I have to agree with Uvavi8r on certain points. Granted, its only a muffler but don't you people feel we pay good hard earned money for our Jeeps and we should get what we pay for? I'm not specifically targetting only Jeeps, but all cars, trucks, boats, televisions, computers, etc. Whatever it is we buy, it seems they are being made like sh!t and sold for more $$$. I am so tired of hearing how things aren't made to last and its done to keep jobs or whatever. Maybe if things were made to last, and companies would improve their products so consumers continue to buy, this economy wouldnt be where it is and the big 3 wouldnt be in such a deep hole. Whatever, sorry for the rant but it just pisses me off so much.

If your angry over your dollar not buying as much as it used to 10 years back try getting angry at our retarded government (republican or democrat I don't care, they're both spending us into oblivion). They are the ones causing inflation. They are the ones putting obscene emissions restrictions on vehicles making it impossible to actually manufacture a medium sized vehicle that passes OEM emissions for less than 20K. Jeep and Chrysler are just doing what they can with what they got.
That isn't to say I wouldn't love better quality, I just don't blame Chrysler for current vehicle quality. I blame our government that puts impossible regulations on vehicle makers (can you say fleet average of over 35 MPG by 2016) FORCING them into debt so that the government can buy them out using your and my money and then FORCE the SUV market to be so expensive that nobody can afford one (let alone one that you can modify to not smell like roses and plant trees while it runs).

Brakes still have 2/3 of pad material front and back. Tires show little wear. No rust on exhaust system... Standard brown patina on muffler, painted with high-temp flat black. Should last a long time.
Chrysler's quality is the best it's ever been, but it still falls well behind Ford (considered the equal of Japan these days) and GM (both Buick and Cadillac are rated top tier).
American car maker quality is fast catching up the Japanese. Toyota, on the other hand, has been slipping of late. Hyundai is also top tier.
My regards,
Widewing

If we're talking dependability, quality, etc, my $.02:
'99 Jeep Cherokee (mine) still has the stock exhaust, no holes, still good, no warranty issues. just got Nokian studded tires for Calgary Ice roads and it is awsome.
'08 LWB Rubi, (hers), 20k KM's and no issues. It's a stick and she loves it.
And I can't wait for my 2011 LWB Rubi with the Diesel engine option as a DD so I can lift my XJ for trails and enjoy it for another 10 years.
Sorry man, I just don't get foreign Fake Jeeps.
IMO.
Merry Christmas.

Yeah, I know that there is a weep hole to help with the condensation, mine started to rot on the other side...again, not a big deal...I know you get what you pay for, but honestly, the jeep I bought wasn't that cheap...coupled with the fact that the nearest dealer to do warranty work is 20 + miles away, and I have a job that doesn't allow me to sit in a dealership all day (my time is money now too)...it is just a bitter pill to swallow.
An example of how customer service should work is with the Mercedes dealership my wife uses, Viti Mecedes Benz in RI...the customer service is fantastic...albiet it is a MB it didn't cost that much more than my Rubi...and when you need service or have a problem, they come pick your car up, and give you a loaner...and no, she didn't buy the vehicle from them...it is just a different perspective I guess...

It really sounds like you are completely unhappy with your jeep and it's hard to make you happy period.
Seriously, when it comes down to it
IT'S A MUFFLER!
You live in PA? Where is snows a lot and they salt the roads? Isn't that why all that "undercoating" and stuff is down out there? To keep things from rusting?
Your complaint about "sitting in a dealer all day" is ridiculous. I swapped out my muffler, for an after market one in the garage at a buddies house in 30 minutes.
Maybe instead of being so frustrated with your dealer talk to them like they are human beings and tell them,
"I have a very tight work schedule, I know you guys are very busy would it be possible for me to get a first thing in the morning appointment you could undo the clamp on the muffler slide it off, slide the new one on, and I could leave."
You're complaining about 20+ miles?! Would you rather have all the car dealerships 5 minutes from your house?
You seem to be very negative.
Do me a favor. Go home to your wife, tell her you love her and give her a hug. Pick your attitude, choose to be happy and not focus and be all negative about a bunch of little stupid stuff.
