I don't have one anymore, I did a few years ago but it never seemed to work like it was supposed too. Now I don't have one since I only drive about 10 miles to work everyday so there is no need.
I don't think you get wherever you are going any faster by speeding than driving the speed limit. You can only go as fast as the other traffic lets you.

Not exactly true. A good radar detector ( V1, Escort, Beltronics, whistler pro 78) can detect radar from a few miles away given perfect conditions. Of course when there are obstacles between you and the source, the range goes down drastically. You can, however, still detect radar from around corners and such before you see the cop because of reflections and the detectors high sensitivity.

Laser is more similar to the situation you are describing. The narrow beam of laser is very difficult to detect. This is why you need a laser jammer to be protected, which are legal in most states (radar jammers are illegal everywhere).

I agree. I have a V1 and I can detect radars miles away. As I mentioned earlier, if it's very hilly then less of course, but always enough to slow down safely.

I'm a military police patrolman (USAF) and I do the bait and hook, I sit undetected (except we have to have Parking lights on) and turn the radar on standby, then I wait until a car looks like its hauling ass than I trigger them, read, and lock, if they are speeding I set it on hold, let them pass me, than flip the lights on. You can tell if they have a detector beause it suddenly goes off and the car slams its brakes on, but by then they are mine. I stopped one guy whose detector didnt save him, than he got a ticket for the detector on base (illegal to use on base, our ECP controllers make them unhook and put them in their gloveboxes.

That is a good part of the reason that AP and I would never get along. NEVER!

I will not bore you with the details on how I dealt with those clowns. Sorry, I have nothing nice to say. :(

Thats how they teach us when we OJT as patrolmen (I come from flightline security), my bro does the same thing (city cop). I'm sorry, but I don't condone speeding, i usually dont mind 10 over ,but on base where the speed is 25, 35 is excessive

I have one but seldom use it. I generally set cruise at the speed limit on freeways, I am pretty light on the gas, to save gas...

I don't have a detector, and I'm positive they are not against any law in Colorado.

I also can tell you even if you put me behind the wheel of a Yugo with flat tires I can somehow manage to speed. (Yes, even in my JK.)

I try really hard not to...but I just cruise right along.

Usually here they stand on the side of the road in residential areas. The cop will just walk out into the road and stop you, while he is on foot. Rightfully so...I spoke with a cop in my neighborhood, he told me the people they usually pull over are those that call the police to complain about speeders in their neighborhood. It's one thing to haul balls down the interstate vs. speeding down a neighborhood street.

Another thing the cops do in denver is enforce crossing over a gorepoint (sp?) ( the area where lanes merge and you are not supposed to cross early) The cops will stop to watch people crossing..and they back up rush hour traffic for miles. (I-70 and I-25, "mouetrap" to locals and all along 225 by Aurora PD)

There are alot of undercover cops around our area...and even if you had a detector they can "pace" you to tell your speed.....or they even use aircraft to measure your speed in some places.

Yes.... and I love the fact that I now need one.... I'm happy with keeping up with"NORMAL" traffic.

With the supercharger its easy to lose track of seed, you look down and all of a sudden your doing 80-85mph. This was a joke with no blower, I was happy doing 60-65mph...

I was on a 3 mph trail the other day, didn't think anyone was aboot so I was pushing it to 6 mph. Sure enough got nailed by a trooper who was hiding in the bushes. Maybe I should get a radar detector.

All kidding aside, I pretty much always do the speed limit. I've found that the JK has a minimum cruise control setting of 25 mph. That works out considering most of the roads where I live are 25 and 35. I LOVE to watch the jerks behind me flailing away because I'm doing 25 in a...*GASP* 25 mph zone.

No need for a detector, just drive the limit. For those that don't like the fact that I won't go faster, you can kiss my butt. Should be easy considering you're behind me.
