why on some rigs do you see the antenna on the front bumper? i see it on some aussie rigs and just am just wondering if there is an advantage to having it up front. thanks guys!

I'm guessing you mean a CB antenna. If so I've never seen any difference between running it on the front or rear. In fact, i't better to run it in the center of the vehicle than to either side. So to do that you pretty much have to run it on the rear center. That, of course, makes it tougher if you want to run a whip from rear to front. But I don't see many people running long whips since the 70's.
