Default Questions before I buy

I am still trying to convince my loving, beautiful, caring, generous wife that I need a JK. While the going is slow I believe I am making forward progress, therefor the research has begun and I have a few questions I hope you can answer, at least with a reasonable guess.

The jeep in question would be an 08 X unlimited with 6sp manual.

1. The plan is to lift (duh!) what are the rules with the lifetime powertrain warranty? the dealer I spoke to said it is a max of 2.5 inches and they have to do the work.

2. With that said I was originally planning on 3-4 inches with 33's or 35's. If I was to do this lift, the 08's come with 3:21 or 3:73s, am I going to have to regear? I do a lot of highway driving and this would be my daily driver.

3. Everyone talks about the cost of regearing, are we talking $100's or $1000s

4. Where the hell are the 4:10s ?(only on the Rubi)

5. Is the electronic swaybar disconnect worth the $?

6. I am, more than likely, have to order the jeep since I can't find the one I want out here. How long does that typically take?

7. I read that Wrangler sales are down 30%, Do you think incentives or low aprs are on the way?

OFF TOPIC

My wife likes the Liberty. They are currently offering $1500 cash back. Is this a kick back from Chrysler? Not included in the invoice? So I shouldn't count that when I am dealing?

That is all for now, Thanks again,.

1. if the powertrain is compromised because of the lift the dealer won't fix it for free.
2. get the 3.73 it's not that bad with 35's
3. regearing = $250 per ring and pinion(you need two sets) then labor. Most estimates are <$1500
4. only the rubi or as an option on the '07 x and sahara
5. i like not having to get under a filthy jeep to dis/re connect swaybar plus you get a rear locker with this option.
6. took me a couple months
7. ask a crystal ball

First "wife likes the Liberty" it aint gona be yours if you get a Liberty.

$1500 cash back... this is how they get people without down payment/trade, in to the vehicle they want. That about covers the license and tax, they never really give anything away.

The liberty may have higher incentives, but the wrangler's resale value is among the best, so that would equate to lower lease payments or if you plan to buy it and sell it down the road, it'll be worth more than the liberty.

"First "wife likes the Liberty" it aint gona be yours if you get a Liberty."

It will be her Liberty. I will get a Wrangler and we will be a happy jeep family.

My wife likes the Liberty.
1. Lift depends on the dealer, most will go 2-2.5 or maybe 3"
2. 4" of lift and 33's would look really wierd, would need at least 35's. I would go with the 3.73 gears and 33" tires with maybe the Full Traction 2" lift
3. It takes a guy good with axles about 3+ hours.
4. As far as i can tell 4:10's are only on rubi's now
5. The sway bar disconnect is worth it if you are planning on off-roading with suspension travel the main consern.
6. No idea
7. No idea eather work with the dealer

You can get stuff for a liby BUT its NO wrangler, no where as kewl or be able to have the top off like that convertable she has been eyeing. suggest to her this is 4Dr family convertable that happens to like off-road too. BEST OF ALL WORLDS!!!!!

No worries there, we would have to get 2 cars for the following reasons.

1. She would want a bare bones Wrangler and would never modify it.

2. She only drives Automatics.

3. I am selfish and the Wrangler would be replacing my TJ and will be all mine!!!
