the power top is just terrible looking for the TJ. I'm happy with a manual top. i use the sunrider if i know it might rain and all the way down doors off if there isn't going to be rain for a few days.

Yeah, I also noticed the data on that site is about 3 years old...
this is from there:
"The Barker Top is now available to the public for purchase at the cost of $2995.00. All orders outside the US must call for pricing. We are currently finalizing adaptation of the Top to fit 1976 to 1996 model Jeep Wranglers and the new Jeep Unlimiteds, projected availability is December 2006."
anyone know if they are still doing this? I didn't call them.
edit: i think it looks like 10lbs of crap in a 5lb bag when it's down.
and it don't look that great up either. wtf is with the big bubble on the roof??

I'd settle for bein able to put the top up and down manually in 10 seconds like the old Corvettes. I don't have my top down as often as I like, since I can't afford the time to put it up sometimes.

I don't know, disfiguring the Jeep for upwards of 3 grand is not in the plan for me. I can suffer with the pain in the ass top and put that money toward something that makes the Jeep run better...

So i've been thinking about this for a little bit this afternoon and the more i think about the more possible it seams. Using the existing soft top frame work, mount an actuator at the base of the roll bar on a swivel and the other end of the actuator to the mid of the bow. This a very very rough pic to explain the thought...
Down position
Raising
Raising
Up, secure with exisiting header clamps
I haven't actually measured the geometry to see if an electric actuator is available, but if you have on board air pneumatic actuators would work too. I'm thinking you use the existing strap for the rear bow. As for the windows you would need to have new cloth material made that was one piece and i'm not sure how you would secure it to make it air/water tight around the jams. I'm just brain storming here...

The Mercedes G Class has a power folding soft top and it is sweet!
For 2010, Jeep gets the next best thing....cable top. Manual operation but no more tucking the sides in.
