Poseur.....

Excellent point
Will I ever use the full potential of my Rubicon (well that is when I finally get the blasted thing)?
Really can't say. There are not any "hard core" 4x4 trails within 100s of miles of me that I am aware of, anything that is closer, I could probably get a Chevy Trailblazer down....so the Rubicon won't get weekly workouts of anywhere near its potential.
I do hope to be able to take some longer trips, and give it more of a workout, but even then....I doubt I will be as hard core as some, if not many on the board here.
So does that make me a "poseur" to the original poster, or anyone else?
Quite possibly
Do I care really what some one else thinks of me and my Jeep?
Not really, I am buying it because I have always wanted one, and until the 4dr, a 2dr just was not practical enough to have as a daily driver...and that is all that matter to me...did the vehicle fit my needs.
And honestly, that is all it should matter to anyone....does the vehicle fit their needs.
I mean honestly, how many people "need" a car that goes over 75? You can't "legally" drive it anywhere as such in the US.
So why is it that much different from a person buying a higher end horsepower "car" who will never drive it to its full potential compared to someone buying a Jeep, who will never use the Jeep to its fullest potential?

As for myself, I'm not buying the Rubicon model because I don't need to haul around several hundred pounds of extra "off-road" hardware that'll hurt my gas mileage, when in reality, it'll only go off-road on mid-level trails (at most, and even then, only if I can even find any around me) a few times a year. I do intend to do some mods down the line, but a lift and bigger tires is probably a few years away - a CAI and exhaust upgrade are probably more my speed for now, as the increase in power and fuel economy will make them worthwhile for me.
Am I a poseur? I don't think so - I'll go off-road when the opportunity presents itself, but am not trying to make my Jeep a dedicated rock-crawler. For me, it's about the freedom of open-air driving, coupled with the go-anywhere capability that Jeeps are legendary for. Jeeps are an American institution, and one man's "pursuit of happiness" is another's "posing," I suppose.
IMHO, the original poster was just flame-baiting.

I personally only plan on going on a few easy dirt trails up in the mountains and to have fun driving in the snow. Since this will be my commuting vehicle, I dont want to scratch, dent, or damage any part of my new JK since it cost so much. It will be my first new vehicle. I have a 94 YJ for wheelin if I feel like keeping it. Just because someone doesnt take it on difficult trails, doesnt mean they are just mall cruisers. I have seen a lot of upcoming new jeepers at dealers. I just hope they wave back once in a while. Every JK I've waved to, doesnt get it yet.
