Default portal-tek Axles

Does anyone have any information on the portal-tek axles for a JK Jeep? I have emailed them but haven't heard back yet. I am wanting to know how much fabrication is needed to mount the axles, prices for the axles and availability of parts. Here is the website:www.portal-tek.com

Bueller...Bueller.....Bueller..... These axles seem to be pretty stout. with all these people going to the solid D60 and the lifts you would think someone would have went this route. As far as i can tell you get the gear reduction and the 4.5 inches of true lift and strong axles. so if you paid about $1200 for a lift, $2000-$3000 per axle, i think you might bebetter off with these.

They give you an extra 10" of clearance over the D44. A 9" axle ready to go for the JK starts at $14k for the set. They have CTIS options, too.

So, if I'm reading it right, you could put those axles in, gain 4.5" of clearance (equal to lifting 4.5" with a normal suspension lift) AND get stronger axles.
Yep! You could run 37" tires on stock suspension. If you put on a mild spring lift, you could get better flex and run bigger tires. If you were running 40" tires you would still have to deal with the conflict between the size of the tire and wheel well at full stuff. But these axles would handle those big meats just fine.

If I'm not mistaken, the H1 uses IFS portals.

These would be more like Unimog solid portals.

I'd love to have them, but don't have the money...

whoa... wait a minute... CTIS on a JK? that would be nice to have.

as nice as it would be to upgrade to these axles, most of us just don't have the money. wonder how complicated and hard it would be to put planatary gear sets and rotors on the D44... basicly, turn the stock axles hubs into portal hubs. i get the feeling that it'd still cost about the same, but the D44 would be weaker.

and for anyone that doesn't know what a portal axle is...

No, the H2 and H3 use a traditional GM solid rear axle with an IFS front. A similar setup to current pick-ups.
