Just came back from jeepersden. Found out what the noise was. Cv joint on the stock driveshaft is failing. $570 bucks for an upgraded ds with u joints. So if you have the stock ds and it's making this exact noise get your wallets ready!!!!!!! Mine is going on Friday.

Oh and of you wait till the very last minute to change it there is a chance of something else getting damaged that's why I'm not waisting time

Mine is doing the same thing and I am having a new DS made for it too. The OEM joints don't like lift kits much.

Wouldn't this be covered by the lifetime drivetrain warrenty? I understand minus the upgrade.

Default cv joint hitting something with lift

I described the same knocking/clicking/clacking type noise to my mechanic. Only happens on acceleration from stop and only briefly. He said CV joint right away. The angle change with the 3" lift is causing contact. Mine will be done in a few weeks. Ouch. But was going to replace eventually anyway.

Default warranty on lifts

chrysler will not cover anything on the drivetrain if you've lifted it. If not then sure...nail their ass for a replacement.

Yea I know they won't cover it as soon as I roll up to the dealership on 35s lol. FYI, I also found out that when you upgrade your rear ds you also need to have adjustable control arms because you will have vibration. I'm gonna drive with the vibe until next month. Then I can finally start saving for a winch. All of this for a little clicking noise lol

I'm having this problem on my 2008 unlimited sahara, when I back out of the driveway and then accelerate forward I get a pop or sometimes is sound like a double popping noise "pop-pop". Please let us know if the new drive shaft fixes the problem.

I'm very new to jeeps but if this was my old tacoma i would say the splines in the drive shaft need to be lubed. Thats how I cured a similar noise in that truck. Does the jeep have a splined drive shaft and if so can it be greased? I didn't notice any grease fittings under there the other day.

You can't grease them. I looked into doing that as well. And yes the new drive shaft fixes the problem. The cv joint is getting worn out thats the pop noise you hear.
