Not trying to be a smart ass... but you are'nt in 4wd are you???
Seems to me that with the 4:10s and 35"s, you would still be getting decent gas mileage and not be running high rpms... @3500 rpm, I would think you would be going at least 65 mph...
I know that after I re-geared I got better gas mileage than before I did...
my Rubi w/4:10s and 35's got around 12-14 mpg. and going to the 5:13s and a programmer, I jumped back up to around 18.
I would at least look into a superchips programmer before I'd re-gear again, the price of gas you save would pay for it soon enough...

I'd make sure you're in third gear. If the automatic can't get past 2nd for some reason, it could account for a higher RPM.
