Warn does have some of their units made in China now. Make sure you check before ordering if buying American is important to you. I went with Ramsey UT 9500 for many of the same reasons stated for Warn; reputation and customer service. Smittybuilt, Superwinch, Mile Marker, etc are all made in China. I've worked with enough tools to know you get what you pay for and have yet to find a dependable Chinese tool. I'm sure there out there but I just don't want to take a chance when I'm in the sticks.

Just my 2 cents...

I have a Warn PowerPlant and I love it. The built-in compressor has been a real help and without the hassles of finding a location to mount all of the stuff for an external compressor.

I have a Warn 9.5ti, and I am confident in it's performance. I haven't had to use it yet, but I know when I do it will work. If you want to save some money the Warn m8000 is a great winch for the price.
