Question wait a minute... it can hold 200lbs... or can it?

that doesn't make any sense... quadratec.com has a product for sale that bolts onto the tail gate where the stock tire carrier is and says it can hold up to 200lbs and a 37" tire... hmmmmmmmmm

That unit replaces the tire carrier.

yeah, i've seen that thing too. i don't know how the bestop tire carrier is that much different than the stock one.

i'm a little confused with the 50lb recommendation. i'm pretty certain that a stock rubi spare is gng to run over 50lbs.

i've also heard that the 50lbs thing means in addition to the stock spare. but who knows.

When climbing vertical rock faces from flat ground, it often drags the bumper or tow hook.

yup, i was backing off a big rock, or it was coming off of another one! not sure which!

hmm would a tire carrier have prevented the crease I take it?

definetly. A tire carrier would'nt push into the tailgate. I smash my TJ's tire carrier off trees, rocks and everything else. and it hasnt touched the tailgate.
