I think the light is only there for the 2-doors, I don't have it in my 4-door. Wish I did, because I'm not sure if it has the weight sensor thing or not as I often have my 9 yo in the front when on the trails and occasionally I have gear in the back and would feel a lot better knowing that it's dissabled or not.

the four doors have it too. If you keep your eye on the bezel with the hazard switch, esp off button etc, when you first start up the jeep, you'll see what looks like a blank on the panel will light up for a few seconds with a passenger airbag pic and something written about passenger air bag turned off. it will then shortly go back out. When you put something in the seat that is unsafe for the airbag to deploy (small child etc) it can tel that whoever is sitting there is too light and that "blank" looking peice will remain lit. If you press down on the seat with your hand for like 10-15 seconds, you will see the light come on. when you let off, it will go out shortly. if your JK is not lighting this light up upon start up or the hand test SOMETHING IS WRONG!!!!!! take it to the dealer immediately and have them fix it. it is standard on ALL wrangler models. It is possible yours is not working, but it should be. Get it checked out. Good luck.

We went through this a couple months ago. My 08 4 door absolutely DOES NOT have this. It is pretty obvious on the models that have it when the light hits it a certain way. Mine is just a blank plate there. You can turn the key on and off, shine a flashlight at different angles, it is not there. After a few posts from different people it looked like the 08 4 doors don't have it.

I will give a second post to say also that my 08 ( 1 month old) 4 door rubicon DOES NOT have this. There is just a blank plate, no flashing off/on when starting or when a child sits in the seat. There is NO MANUAL FACTORY DISABLING of the airbag on my JK (might be an automatic disabling, but not an indicator light showing it). Owner's Manual also has no mention of anything of the sort even being available or optional for this.

The 2008 does not have the airbag disabled light, but I do believe they do have the OCS (Occupant Classification System) which is federally mandated.

This is stupid in a Jeep, where father/son wheeling will often mean that younger kids will sit in the front. The Airbag Disable would be far more comforting.

I agree why not add the little light, it adds that note of comfort that your kid isn't gonna be blasted on the trail.

My 08 Rubicon Unlimited does not have this either.
