Parking lot Idiots!!!

Sorry to hear about that. I, too, don't want door dings and park far away even though I have reasonable protection from rock rails. Here in Oklahoma, another thing I do when parking is check what direction the flags are blowing--it pays to park facing into the wind.
Funny thing is: I don't worry about trail pinstriping because that's hard-earned.

a lift and rock rails can fix the ding in the metal problem... i dont have the painted flares so I have no solution for those...
I have a couple paint spots (other people's paint) on my rock sliders

In the summer I was sitting in a parking lot waiting for my wife to get out of shopping. It was a windy day and all of sudden this little old granny goes to get out of her that is park right beside mine. Her door flies open and smashes into my Jeep. I jumped out all upset and to my surprise I there was a slight mark on the sidesteps (it's a Sahara). Her door wasnt in such good shape! She had a big "V" shape where her door hit!
Unfortunately i just noticed that someone hit my front bumper. No real damage but you can tell that they did. I am just waiting for real damage to happen to the bumper and that will give me an excuse to replace the bumper for a beefier one! My neighbour hit a deer and when the insurance company went to pay up he upgraded!

I know I am shopping for rails to help protect against this, along with the gravel that gets thrown out of the tires and has dinged one of my hinges. Thinking I will probably go with the rock hard ones at the moment.

I hate door dings as well. Watch out for those people who leave their baskets around to... Sometimes that can hard to see like the ones at home depot. My dad hit one of the flat dolly's and did some damage to his truck.

I gotta add to this...lol..
years ago i had an 87 GTI beater car, I took it a bar/restaurant and parked next to a really nice black 911. The owner saw me park next to him (he was parked way out there and in an end spot too.) I said politely this parking lot gets back and I have a nice car at home and didn't want his car getting door dinged. I came out a few hours later, with the parking lot packed, with a note that said "thanks".

I never, never park my Jeep next to other cars. Sorry, but I'm one of those assholes that takes up two spots; I park right on the line that's supposed to separate the two spaces, so I take up both spots. I do this because when it was brand new, I was sitting in my car when this idiot just throws her door open and hits my door. Somehow, there was no damage. Not a scratch. But to this day, I park in the empty part of the lot and take up two spots. Or I parallel park where there are no cars next to me. Trail pin stripes; fine. Door dings? Not on your life!!
