As we all know, that wonderful automatic transmission overheats just by looking at. I didn't get the hot oil light this time, but I could smell it starting to overheat for the 2nd time. Should I get it flushed? I'm think that the fluid has got to be cooked by now.

I'd flush it just to be on the safe side. It's cheap insurance compared to a transmission rebuild. Trust me, I just had to have mine rebuilt.
Look into the ORW Transmission Cooler. Even more cheap insurance.

Ambient temp?
Off road or on road?
Tire size?
Climbing a lot or running level?
How heavy is your Jeep? (JK/JKU, extra weight like bumpers, winch, armor)
Anyone?

The most common factor I have read/seen causing the warning is doing a lot of wheeling in 4-hi. I know a guy that has gotten the "HOT OIL" message in his stock JKU just running up a forest service road in 4-hi.

I know other have said it already, but put a tranny cooler on it! They are only 60$ and then you don't have to worry about it anymore, if it were me I would put fresh fluid i'n it if I was even a little concerned it got to hot

I agree! My tranny rebuild was in the neighborhood of $2,500.....

Both times I was driving on the beach. First time was my bad because I was in 4-hi and didnt air down the tires. The rpms where running high because I was trying to be a speed demon on sand. The 2nd time I aired down and was in 4-lo just like I have a thousand times before. That seemed to work until the other night. I was again trying to drive like I stole it in 4-lo but the rpms didnt go much past 2-2.5 and that was only for 20-30 seconds then I went back to normal driving across the sand. Tires are 32", I have a superchips tune with a cold air intake. I even changed the tune so the fan will turn on at a lwer temp but the temp gauge always reads tiny bit under half. My jeep is a 2010 2dr, TF Coil leveling kit w/ bilstein shocks. Stock bumpers and such. Not really that heavy.
