I've ordered from northridge4x4.ca and expensive parts I order from whoevers cheapest and get it shipped to the border and drive down to pick it up. You only pay GST for items made in north america due to the north american free trade act or whatever its called so no duty or extra tax on that.

I'm pretty sure you meant to say duty instead of GST as sales tax will be charged regardless of where it's being made.

No its GST. If your bringing over car parts that are $1000 (for example) you only pay GST (maybe PST or HST in other provinces too) on that $1000 and not the actual duty. Duty is charged on the item if it was made outside of Canada/USA.

So say its made in China and I bring it back I have to pay GST + Duty. If its made in the states, only pay GST.

Crossed the border with Jeep parts a couple times and thats how they explained it to me, I only paid 5% GST on bringing whatever I had back to Canada at the border and not a penny more. I was actually shocked the first time as I wasn't aware of that. And I declared everything and showed original invoices as the shipping outlet warned me there pretty anal about people bringing stuff back without there shipping invoice so I didn't want to risk it.

Yup Northridge is very good. Shopping across the border is great as well. Bustabiz can get u some killer prices and like the poster said above u only pay gst or hst depending on ur province. I've done it many times now. Very simple.

A few more to share are zoneoffroad, 2koolperformance, and TMR customs. You can find them all with google. Good luck!
