No more Dana 44???

The past few weeks I have been trying to track down a Dana 44 for my JK Sahara with either ridiculous over pricing or venders being out of stock. One explained that they will not be receiving anymore because the Dana 44 is going out of the production from Dana’s factories. Furthermore, he explained the reason behind the discontinuation of the Dana 44 is due to Chrysler removing it from their jeep line up. One of the only manufactures still using it...

Have anyone else heard anything like this?

I havent heard it but i wouldnt doubt it. I have heard from a few people recently that the prices of the D44 is going up, so that being said i wouldnt doubt what you were told. I really cant think of any other vehicles that use the 44s But for chrystler to not be using it anymore that makes me wonder what they are going to be putting in the new wranglers? Maybe its something good :P

It doesn't seem like it'd make sense to go back to the D35 rear that they used to use... maybe we'll see a D60 rear axle...

with the economy being as it is ; I doubt they will be upgrading

Hell everything is going IFS. Wranglers are among the few in production not IFS.

Just bulletproof that dana 30 and throw in a selectable locker that way you dont have to have the electronic one!!!!!

I ran into this problem back in the Fall of 2008. I ordered the front D44, and then it was nothing but a waiting game . . . everyone was out-of-stock, and no one could say when they were going to get any new ones . I got lucky and bought a slighty used one from another forum member.
