Bestop also makes the Mopar Sunbonnet--their (Chrysler's) silly name for the safari top. It's more expensive, but I think much better designed than the Mopar version (and I've owned both versions: hardtop and softtop). It's top-notch. I also have the Bestop Duster and Windjammer. The Duster is something everyone should have if they run top off. As for the Windjammer--it helps reduce the billowing at highway speeds that the safari top suffers (not flapping, mind you, because the Sunbonnet does not flap. Billowing), but it certainly won't keep out the rain on a four door. And, I swear that two of my straps are sewn on backwards because I have to twist them around to get them to secure. No big deal, because the twist is hidden away under the fabric.

Now, though, this thread has me wondering because I was preparing to order in the next few days the Bestop tube doors.

Same problem with bikini...broken bolts, etc. you would think for that kind of money, they would supply higher quality hardware

Despite my anger with Bestop over the probs mentioned above ... and the fact that I ripped my Safari top trying to get it off last night (so damn tight) .... I like the doors ... very easy to mount mirrors on them. I found an easy, cheap, quick fix to stop the rattling (which was driving me nuts). However, if you have an '09 Unlimited make sure you get the "new" door latches - Bestop finally acknowledged they needed to be modified for the 2009 JK. Received the new ones last night.

Quadratec insisted the problem was me

And that's another company with less than satisfactory CS. I could go on and on about those guys. After reading through I'm gonna have to seriously investigate the trek top I was gonna buy. It sucks when companies skimp on quality control... a reputation is a hard thing to regain!

Great protect your wallet thread here. I just dropped about $500 in best top products off my wish list. Poor service, poor quality control, useless customer service and a supervisor who lets her kids post to this forum (judging by that ridiculous reply to the bending bumper winch incident) are no way to run an AMERICAN business. Buy AMERICAN WHEN EVER POSSIBLE!

Wow... I guess I am the lucky one. While I have had some problems with my elements doors, they have gone well out of their way to try to rectify the problem. First they sent me an entire new set of doors, and then when one of the latches broke a few weeks ago they sent me a new one. When it got here, it was one of the redesigned ones.

The new design is so much better that I emailed them to see what it would take to get the other three replaced and they are sending them to me, no questions asked. I'm going to take side by side shots of the old vs. new handles when they get here for your viewing pleasure.

I have a large collection of bestop products. Elements doors, enclosures, and uppers, Flexitrunk, duster, windjammer, (not crazy about the wind jammer), and trail cover. While none are perfect, I find them all quite functional.
