It's no different to Landrovers, the older model drivers are usually the enthusiasts, so expect to be waved at or wave at others.
My 68 Landrover got heaps of waves but 76 Range Rover got few.

Anybody that disrespects you on the trail has serious self-esteem issues.
I've seen Hummers and Jeeps driving along side each other on trails.. but I guess there's always a few people that never really grow up.
I've had nothing but compliments on my Jeep, and plenty of waves. I've had a few snobs that didn't wave, but at the end of the day, I think I'm a fun guy to hang out with so it's their loss, not mine.

Soccor moms, hummer look-a-like confusion or people that think the the unlimited looks like a fridge on wheels probably killed the wave.... I wave at anyone as long it is SAFE to do and see them, but a few that I know will not wave at the 4 doors because they think that 4 doors are really not jeeps and stuck on only 2 doors, but I don't care i wave away as long as it is SAFE to do and does not distract me from my first responsibility behind the wheel of driving safe.

Personally I think it's the same with every vehicle.
When I had my Dodge pickup I got waved at by other Dodge P/U's about as much as I do with the Jeep.
The same goes when I had my BMW 3 series. Still happens when i drive my Wife's 5 series. Meaning each vehicle will give courtesies to others in the same vehicles..i.e. waves or let them in traffic from a parking lot etc.
I found that with the Jeep it's about the same percentage of those of other vehicles, and if you say the "wave" is conditional to the amount of "mods" then I say if that is the approach you take them you are a snob.
I can't wave at every Jeep cuz many times I may be busy looking at other traffic around me or concentraiting at something ahead of me.( I don't drive looking at the vehicle in front of me..maybe 3 to 5 cars ahead) If I can I wave.
