Default No doors...?...P..I..T..A..

So I finally have my drean garage a 24' x 24' with high ceilings and being that it will be close to 90 for the next three days I decided...let's get those doors off.....but the manual doesn't give you the exact details as to how to disconnecft the doors ( red tab moves but a small black tab moves and breaks... ) and afterwards you need to not only remove the hinge but two torx screws.... , OK I can deal with the hardware but can someone tell me how to disconnect the cables w/out breaking any more tabs...grrr
Thanks...frustrated in Seattle....lol.........not really just momentarily confused in MA....

lost in translation...I said ..you not only need to remove the hinges but the torx screws as well...now I think I broke off a "tab" that should have been pressed in rather than pulled....

those quick disconnects for the electronics are anything but quick. honestly, after fighting with them for 20 minutes the first time i took them off i just said "f--k it," and broke them all off on purpose. now they are truly "quick" disconnects and they also stay in place firmly. they still fit tight enough that you don't have to worry about them popping out when they aren't supposed to.

as for the hardware - do not remove the entire hinge. just the two torx screws that face downward - i think they are a t15. i would just leave them out permanently once you have removed them once. it is those two screws that hold the door in its hinge. once those are out, just lift up. the door may be very tight and take quite a bit of force the first time. just put some lithium grease in there to keep them lubed for the future. i actually read someone in here said they had to use a floor jack to put pressure on the bottom of the door to lift it up the first time. mine weren't that tight and lifted out fairly easily. just be aware that the doors are probably a lot heavier than you would expect them to be once you get them out. also, open the door to a little less than 90 degrees outward from the vehicle before lifting them up, and have them in the same position when putting them back in.

Thanks for the very honest response, I saw the torx screws and not until now did I realize that it was the actual hinge that should be left alone...thanks mcnaught6...

oh...BTW if I don't respond in the next hour is that I have installed a fridge in my garage that I could only think of storing my favorite beverage .. , which would mean that I passed out or got electrocuted ( 12 volts... )...just kidding guys I appreciate your help but I'm off to try this out...

20 minutes later, even with a flat head screwdriver I could not get the grey and black connectors appart...oh well I'll wait for day light but sure leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth as this should be a simple procedure, I hope this wasn't planned out for a dealer "operation"....damn when is Honda going to make a Jeep version of this JK, sorry guys but I've worked on Hondas and modified them since 1987 and can say that some of the American engineering is done so that "only" those that have access to sites like this one or have friends who are mechanically inclined can help but not your ordinary mom and pop sitting at home....just try to reuse the screw thinguies that hold the front fender cover...they strip....grrr

Once you GET IT you will be amazed how easy it is. I could not get my apart the first time and posted on here asking a couple of questions and now can disconnect the clip in 5 or 6 seconds with one hand in the dark. I kid you not it is that simple, but you just have to KNOW how to do it.
